Here are 2 simple charts on Carat Weight and Size.

Carat weight and size are important when it comes to assessing or appraising the value of diamonds. These are not the only qualities used to asses the value of a diamond but they do count for a lot.

Here is a graphical representation of diamond weight. In all cases when checking a diamond for weight, it should be weighed properly with the correct equipment.

American Gem Society

January 31, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Diamonds Al

In 1934, the American Gem Society was founded for one purpose: to make it easier and safer to buy jewelry. The idea is simple. We provide a list of knowledgeable and reputable retailers so you can shop with confidence.

The American Gem Society was formed by jewelers, and their like-minded partners, who want to protect people like you. To ensure that members of the American Gem Society are trustworthy and dedicated to protecting you, we make obtaining membership difficult:

* Only 5% of jewelers choose to meet the qualifications for membership. And that doesn’t guarantee entry.
* Application review by a panel of peers.
* Annual recertification to maintain membership.
